Does it have to be on Thanksgiving Day? Why not do birthday brunch over the weekend?

Cook for you sister or order in day in advance. People in service industry deserve to have a holiday as well.

Thanksgiving day is her actual bday. We only celebrate thanksgiving with just the two of us. We have no problem doing something over the weekend but if brunch is an option the morning of i’d love to take her out!

Check out De Martino in Somerville. Don't know if they are open on Thanksgiving, but they have great brunch. Sadly I think you will find most places closed on the day itself.

Typically, large hotels do big Thanksgiving brunch spreads. I would start checking their websites.

Yes because it’s her birthday and she deserves to be celebrated as much as others deserve off. It’s an unfortunate situation but take it out on the owners, not random people

So I'm no longer a grumpy boomer, thank you :)

Just so you know I read the original mean spirited and self-entitled comment you wrote, as well as the second one you deleted, but I'll keep it to myself. Your words already showed who you are, so all I will say it this.

This holiday is about respect and appreciation for other humans. Most people have friends and family they want to spend a family holiday with. Or they could simply take a well deserved day off alone and do absolutely nothing. But they can't.

Restaurants stay open because people show up. If you stay home they would close. It is as simple as that, and while it is true that fraction of the work force might be willing to work on Thanksgiving vast majority would like to spend their time with their loved ones. Get it?

Do you ask staff at the restaurant before you show up are they working because they want to work or because they must?

Happy Thanksgiving, and birthday to your sister, enjoy!!!
