I'll fight over the divisions until someone from the outside attacks us. Only we get to be mean to New Jersey.

Exactly. Jersey is a piece of trash but it's our piece of trash, if I hear anyone else calling it a piece of trash, I'm gonna put them in the damn trash..

Nj residents: will literally fight each other over region and food names

Also nj residents: will literally, and with extreme prejudice kill anyone that even talks badly on nj

It’s me. I’m nj residents. Central jersey exists. It’s called pork roll. And I’ll fight anyone that says otherwise.

With love ❤️

Curious… is New Brunswick in central? I used to say that but then someone from Princeton said it was north so idk.

I don’t care either way, things are just either close to my home or far lol. And I’m from an immigrant family but grew up in NJ so I didn’t know what taylorham pork roll even was until college. I just know it’s really good in a breakfast sandwich.

immaphantomLOL t1_isxncv7 wrote

Tbh I have no idea. I grew up in Woodbridge township and was told it was central. Now I think anything south of the Driscoll bridge is central.

Currently live in Delanco and they say it’s south but is basically east Philly with less gun shots.

So who knows.

sunbun12345 t1_isyjyra wrote

I would say so, but New Brunswick still leans north, as it is closer to Elizabeth, Edison and Newark, places which are definitely north

1

Summoarpleaz t1_it0evd6 wrote

Yeah I get that, but having grown up in Morris, and then going to New Brunswick, it’s kinda strange to think of those two places as one region

Everything in Middlesex County is Central.

I was going to argue with you about Central Jersey existing, but your unique approach to terminology has won me over. I find North Jersey, Pork Roll, South Jersey, and the Shore to be acceptable regions.

Well we both know that is simply not true..lol. You and I both know that Taylor is the brand and pork roll is the product. You happen to like the Taylor brand over others, but the product you are purchasing is pork roll.

Yes, and still people have preferences for which brand.

Edit to add there is no such thing as Taylor ham. It’s not ham.

John Taylor was only forced to change the name from Taylor Ham to pork roll bc it wasn’t actually ham. I still call chicken nuggets, chicken nuggets and not deep fried pink slime.

Great-Vacation8674 t1_isxsbj5 wrote

That’s because they are mc nuggets. Do you call all bologna Oscar Mayer? Regardless of the name change and reasonings of why, it’s still pork roll made by Taylor.
