It's honestly not that hard to get someones information with a bit of searching. People often use the same usernames in different places so they might have mentioned their real name in another place. Also the giving out your birthday isn't really smart to begin with (and can lead to id fraud).

Reddit's user anonymity is excellent. Unless you post personal information or use your actual name as your username (or similar to other accounts) there's a minimal chance that someone can trace your Reddit account. Additionally, Reddit doesn't display your email on your profile.

This is absolutely false. To anyone with a bit of CS knowledge finding out who's behind a profile is cake.
