Gotta hand it to him though, he knows his constituents well enough to know that changing parties would keep him in office. Imagine if he not only listened to his people, but actually worked on their behalf instead of his own.

You know, part of me wonders if this is how we kick someone like Chris Smith out. Rile up the base, run as a radical MAGA Republican in the primary, win that, easily defeat whatever token Democrat usually runs in the 4th district (this year it's some guy who Wawa is threatening to sue because his campaign logo has geese in it and no, I'm not making that up: https://www.inquirer.com/politics/wawa-logo-matt-jenkins-new-jersey-congress-20221004.html ), swap parties, and caucus with Democrats when you get to Congress.
You'd only last 1 term and you wouldn't get any decent committee appointments because no one in either party would trust you but you could make Chris Smith fuck off for a bit.

Cape may county and Atlantic County have his campaign signs everywhere. I’m afraid Anderson doesn’t have a chance. What doesn’t help is seeing many prolife/jesus billboards along the AC Expressway and Route 30 and others. These Christian grifters know how to trick the South Jersey Voter very well.

I don’t think democrats claim that all cops are fascists.
If I recall, it’s the Republican Party that has been demonizing the FBI?
Their point is that Republicans tend to follow blindly anyone with an R next to their name, not actually sticking to the values they claim to hold. Hence why people have problems with people claiming to be good Christians but votes for a horrible human being like Trump. It’s called Hypocrisy.
Same goes for “my body my choice” regarding masks, but not for women’s right to an abortion. The goal post always moves.
I also find it fascinating that people are unable to see that standing against cops murdering civilians is a good thing? Just because a person does not want police officers to have full right to kill anyone without question, or even investigate their own…doesn’t mean they believe that a structured society with laws and enforcement of said laws shouldn’t exist.
They can both exist. Blindly following any political party is a failure of deep, independent thought for any person.

People tend to demonize opportunists like Van Drew, but I focus more on the voters. After all, Van Drew is acting rationally, looking out for himself.

Police and the military have always been tokens, the right doesn't actually give two shits about them. My father puts out "Veterans for" signs for democratic candidates in Kansas and they get stolen almost every election cycle. The don't care about the health of Veterans, they don't care about their well being in any way, they don't care about separating them from their families over total bullshit and they certainly don't want to hear what a veteran has to say if they don't fall in line with the GOP.

Also I LOVE the what-aboutism—instead having any sort of intelligible response, you go for “Well what about dEmOCratS”

This guy sucks. One of the slimiest politicians out there. Jumped in the race to take the seat when he heard Lobiondo was retiring and barely beat a clown candidate in Seth Grossman. The south jersey dems have been down colossal after losing this district again and Sweeney & co in the senate and assembly. Alexander seems like a fine candidate but don’t think he has a chance here. Had hope for a second there in 2019 but good lord

Exactly the same as the way they treat the unborn.
"Ohhh, the unborn are sacred. Ohhhh, the unborn are people too. Ohhhh, how could you murder one of God's blessed little creations?"
Until they're born into some poor fucking family that can't afford them, in some urban area that leans blue. Then Jesus' little miracle transforms as if by magic into "just another gaping mouth suckling at the government's teat."
And God forbid they grow up to have some kind of opinion, like "hey, I don't like being shot at in my 2nd grade class, maybe we can do something about that?" Then they'll be getting death threats from the same people that sent death threats to abortion providers.

It’s a real shame because Tim is truly a great candidate that I got to know over the years in his role with the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s’ Office and later as a civil rights attorney. He is unique in that he has the police pedigree to back up his ideas when it comes to law enforcement while also having real life experience dealing with those who sought out social justice and who otherwise would not have a voice. But alas, some loudmouth flip/flopper will call him “woke” and a shill for Soros and let illegal aliens take over the Jersey Shore! Uggggghhhhh…

I think that many reasonable people could agree that policy discussions should take a back seat to securing free and fair elections. Only one party is screaming about rigged elections and trying to overturn the will of the people. Defending the core values of democracy is a wonderful and righteous cause, no matter what side of the aisle you occupy.
Let's reinforce the foundations of our democracy and then we can return to the regularly scheduled programming of debating common sense gun law reform, immigration, and other policy issues.
