If you manage to scrape all the egg pods by Spring. Adults die off after laying eggs.
They are basically done for the year but will hatch and reinvade in the Spring.

They're still around but dormant. I don't think anything we did slowed the spread in a helpful way. For what purpose were we asked to kill them? Elimination, slowing the spread, make people feel like they have some control over an inevitable natural phenomenon, to get kids to relish killing bugs so when giant carnivorous insects arrive on an asteroid we are better prepared for the ensuing war that will result in either world peace or the elimination of our species?
