My wife is a VP and has been trying to get people back in for once a week or so with no luck

I think that new graduates will start filling some of these jobs once the bills become due. There is a steady stream of talent joining the workforce every year. I've worked remote for around 17 years and I think not having the face time at HQ has definitely held my career back at times.
