It’s a fascinating place. I just have an issue with church groups telling me when I can swim in the ocean.

In the 80s you couldn’t drive on Sundays. They had chains across the few streets that led out of town.

Before noon? The beach is closed until noon because they think you should be in church. https://www.oceangrove.org/visiting-the-beach. That’s messed up and an abuse of authority.

If your waiting for the lifeguard to be on duty, sorry it’s closed. I don’t see anyone making you get up and go if you’re there before

I’ve never seen anyone patrol the beach like that, as someone who used to frequent the area. But maybe I’m wrong!
