Unless you wanna go on a 2+ hour road trip with your friend to eat a steak, maybe post your location first.
Had a lovely meal at Edward's recently
Steakhouse 85 in New Brunswick.
I’m going to Rail’s next month for an event. I’m vegan but before I went vegan I had one of the best steak’s of my life there.
the Park Steakhouse in Park Ridge is phenomenal!
Arthur’s in Morris Plains and Rod’s in Madison
Wolfgang’s in Somerville
Dino and Harry’s in Hoboken. But if you’re from somewhere south, that’s like stopping at the 1 yard line instead of going into Manhattan.
Allendale Steakhouse in Allendale
Roots in Ridgewood never fails
Stage Left in new Brunswick nj
Just go to NYC
Hands down the River Palm.
But IMO you have to cross the Hudson for the whole experience.
For real. I’m about to recommend Sussex County’s finest lol.
Roots (any of them), Arthur’s, Mohawk House (sparta)
For a very casual atmosphere, try Steve's Sizzling Steaks in Carlstadt.
Second this
Great steakhouse and speakeasy downstairs
Yeah my event is going to be in the Speakeasy. I was supposed to go to one down there in October but my sons decided they wanted to be born early that same week.
Rails, Red Horse by David Burke.
Ruth Chris is a good steak but a bit pricey.
Roots in Summit and Morristown
I’m in central so I can go 1hr north or south
Rodizio Grill in Voorhees is great!
Steve’s. Or closer to home there is Wolfgang’s in Somerville and Char in Bridgewater (or possibly Raritan).
Steve’s sizzlin’ steaks in Carlstat and Rails in Towaco
This is the correct answer. Although im the freak that never gets steak at steakhouses. Wife thinks I'm fucking crazy.
Arthur's dropped off hard during COVID. I've gotten two inedible (as in, impossible to chew) "medium rare" Delmonicos for the past two birthdays, not going back.
Roots has solid quality at NYC prices. Capital Grille does a fine job.
It was tasty, but like $75 for the 8oz filet, kind of steep…
I never said it was inexpensive
i've been to them all and Palm still beats them for me
My top 3:
River Palm (honestly better than most of the NYC joints)
Rails (great building, service, and the best sides and non-steak dishes.
Roots: Prob best service on the list, coziest ambiance, best bar list.
HM to Rare, killer happy hour deals.
Arthur’s is terrible—big steaks full of fat. For the life of me I can’t understand why so many people love it other than it’s cheap 🤷♀️
My experience has been the same. They still have a solid burger but the steaks haven’t been the greatest. I’d rather pay a little bit more somewhere else for a better product.
The potatoes.
Frozen calamari and an over cooked $100 steak. Hard pass for me.

I ate there last week and it was good but holy shit is their sauce salty.
Any of the Roots Steakhouses. I always go to the Morristown location and it's better than anything I've had in the state taking into account steaks, sides, and overall atmosphere.
Not Jersey but might as well be, Three Oak in Easton PA
River palm edgewater, and much lesser known but amazing Prime and Beyond in fort Lee. Run by Koreans, it's also a butcher shop. A fantastic place to get an amazing steak and some kimchi fried rice.
Their sliders are a butterflied filet between buns. It’s a gem of a bite. Go to take-out spot for me
I just remembered cuzins in New Brunswick too. Steaks themselves not as good as steakhouse 85 but certainly good and not far off.

Toscano's in Bordentown City is one of my very favorites.
