I genuinely wonder what the architects would think if they saw their creation today. In many ways I like mid century architecture but so many modern features of society such as all the security gates, huge traffic, large cars have turned these sleek designs into monstrosities

Where’s the cops screaming “you can’t park here, go around again!!”

Remember being able to park under the building, walk to the gate as a non passenger with a pass issued by the ticket agent. The brown busses that clogged every roadway. The roar of the 727 and DC 9 pissing of half the State with the jet noise. Bonus points if you ever flew People's Express anywhere :-)

including when there was parking under the terminal building. which lasted until the wtc attack in 1993. i remember going there as a kid when we'd go to pick up my dad when he flew in and parking under there. those were also the days you could walk all the way down to the gates as long as you went thru the metal detector. a lot has changed.

If there was parking on the lower level, where were the baggage carousels? Also on the lower level?

it was below it. if you look at the model where the lower roadway is, that is the arrivals level where the carousels are. the parking was below that.

The current layout of the terminals, there are three levels, right? I suppose I got confused which level the carousels are on. The "Arrivals" level is the level of the Parking Lot?

terminal c has three levels because they have two ticket counter levels and the carousel level. terminal a just has the two.
