Weird fact about colts neck: they lost a measurable portion of their population in 9/11. Census data even mentions it.

I stand corrected — your profile picture popped up on my watch and made this correction significantly more welcomed.

I was mistaking the Wikipedia fun fact for census data in my memory.

My father grew up there, my Irish immigrant grandfather tended the famous Laura Harding's horses for 20 years on what is now Bayonet Farms, her best friend was Katherine Hepburn and my dad would take them for carriage rides when he was a teen.

When my dad was a kid they lived next to the kennels at Brookdale farms, now the college and Thompson Park. Ok ok, some of that is officially Holmdel and western Lincroft, but we considered the area Colts Neck/Holmdel.

As a kid I fantasized that Ms Harding would leave us a million dollars in her will, I was a dumb kid!

I don’t know if you were technically incorrect. I lived there during 9/11, and I think proportionally it was mentioned as having a higher ‘rate.’ I had thought it was a few more than 5, but I suppose some may have technically had a different residence officially. This was In terms of how many people died in terms of the towns population, and not the actual number or anything. I only say it because this wasn’t the first time I’ve heard this, so it must’ve been said somewhere.
