Some friends and I that live all over the east coast want to rent a house at a central location, so we decided on the Jersey shore. The problem is that none of us know much about it or where to look for convenient rentals close to the beach.
If it makes a difference, we all have toddlers and babies, so we’re not really looking for nightlife.
LBI. Avon by the Sea. Point Pleasant Beach.
With toddlers and babies I definitely recommend Ocean City. It has a beautiful boardwalk with 2 ride areas and clean beaches (you do have to purchase beach tags for the adults, but the money goes towards keeping the beaches clean and I personally think it's worth it). It's also a relatively narrow island so you're always going to have easy beach access.
I usually do Point Pleasant but the others suggested are good too. It’s just the closest for me and the shorter the car ride with my son the better!
If you don't want nightlife, definitely check out Ocean City. It's a dry island so there's no bars or places with loud music/parties into the evening, though you can obviously bring your own drinks for yourself. It's very clean and barely 20 minutes away from Atlantic City if you wanted to go to a casino or something
Wildwood /wildwood crest is also a great choice for the family vacation, I’ve been going there my whole life as a kid and now with my kids…great beautiful free beach (best in nj) plus the best boardwalk with a lot of rides…but good summer rentals are going fast…anywhere on the shore, you gotta get your crew together and book something soon…
Just I would avoid point pleasant… the beach there is like just gravel and ground up sea shells, not really sand, and it has a crazy steep drop off at the water, my wife and 4yo daughter almost drowned last time we were there…
LBI and get a place in between a bay beach and regular beach. The bay beach is so nice for little kids, no big waves just nice calm knee deep water.
And there's also Fantasy Island that has rides and an arcade with a water park nearby too!
Ocean City near 34th street. Go down a few blocks but there’s a great park for the kids there and a few good places to grab food. The beach is wonderful.
Ocean City is the BOMB. The best pizza you will ever have in your life is on that boardwalk. 😊
