It's 2023 and Covid is pretty much over, yet our vet still does NOT allow pet owners to come in. They also do NOT have any plans for full-opening date.
Does anyone else's vet still do this?

"Covid is pretty much over" - tell that to the families of the people that died last week.
It’s never going to be over.
What they probably mean is lockdown is over. Obviously you can't end a virus and people die from all sorts of shit.
We’ve been to a couple different vets lately and it’s business as usual.
My dog’s vet still does this. The vet techs who I interface with out front do not wear masks to talk to the owners and I doubt the vets are wearing them as well. I think they figured out that it was much easier to conduct the visit without owners in the room and don’t want to change back. However, I find it quite annoying when I have questions, it’s not really a good experience when you have specific concerns and you’re playing telephone with a vet tech.
Yup. I think this is why. Also, are they really vaccinating my pet? Was my dog weighed? We’re the ears checked? Was a temperature taken? Who the hell knows because I’m not in the room. How are they handling my dogs are they being gentle? It just a matter of time before some vet gets caught defrauding pet owners during covid because no one was actually in the room.
Even when they let you come back to the room, some services are done by removing the pet to a specialty room while we still wait in the exam room. If a vet really wants to defraud you, they can inject your pet with saline, instead of a vaccine or medicine.
I don’t necessarily think they’d do something malicious but there is a lot less accountability because when your pet comes out they’re like everything’s fine! Even though they didn’t check everything and the vet dodges any conversation with you. I feel for vets because they genuinely care for animals and they deal with a lot, and I know some pet owners are absolute assholes, but at the end of the day I am generally the best advocate for MY pet and this care model removes me from the conversation. This is just my experience. I would feel more comfortable if they were better at communicating, maybe that’s the issue.
Mine still doesn't allow owners in either.
How is COVID over when it's still killing 3x as many people as bad flu years? Just because the CDC puts businesses over health doesn't mean you should disrespect doctors that want to try to stay healthy.
Because usually owners suck 🤷🏻♂️
My vet is still doing this, and I actually prefer it. My cat gets to hang in my car with me while she waits, whereas before she would get scared in the waiting room if dogs were barking or it was especially noisy for whatever reason while we waited. My vet also calls me as soon as the vet tech brings my cat in and gives me a full run down of what she’s doing while she’s doing it, and answers any questions I may have right then. However, I totally get if you would prefer to be in the room with your pet. If it’s a deal breaker for you, I’d try shopping around for another vet. Good luck!
My vet was pretty strict, but they have been business as usual at least for the last 9 months.
I had to bring one of my girls to an oral specialist in Mount Holly last summer and they literally examined her in the middle of the parking lot and the vet stuck his dirty ungloved finger inside my dogs mouth. I can't with the hypocrisy.
mine lets me sit and wait
Even in COVID I was allowed to go in with my pet we just had to stay on the other side of the examining room
Not mine. Just met with the Dr.

I'm fully allowed in the vet with my dog. It would 100% be a dealbreaker for me, as I have a rescue who has horrible car anxiety as well as the worst anxiety EVER at the vetZ
Mine never did this. We would have to wait in our car until a room was ready but always went in with our dog. Now the waiting room is chaos and I wish we had the old system back
Our vet did this until we changed vets.
They are still doing that bc COVID isn’t over. Find a new vet with less strict COVID policies. If they are still operating like this now they will not stop any time soon.
100% find a new vet. There's no shortage of ones who can figure out how their mask works if they want to continue to be dramatic about covid

Mine does not do this anymore. If it is a deal breaker then consider hiring another vet.
