Walked by it. They now have small signage in the windows that it's Indian food.

Sure is a weird ass concept. I can't see them staying in business. RIP Halal guys - which to be fair, started out pretty good and completely went to shit.

Odd name, it reminds me of “mystery meat” which doesn’t make me very hungry. Anyways, I hope it’s good and gets business!

You know what is good and just opened recently though? “Sunday Dinner Everyday”. The inside is still sort of a work in progress, but the food is amazing.

Some super nice pockets and some super gritty pockets with everything in between. Probably one of the more diverse neighborhoods in the city, Jewish, Black, white, Latino, Afghan, very rich, very poor, etc. Maple is one of my favorite streets, usually nice and quiet. There was a shooting on Maple not too long ago, so it’s no East Rock.

Yeah, you’ll be fine. New Haven can be a pretty violent city for its size but if you’re not looking for trouble and are reasonably cautious you’ll be good to go. And if you’re into beer, there’s a bunch of good local places. Enjoy!

Edgewood is a great neighborhood. I've lived here for coming up on 10 years now, on Hobart. I'm raising 2 kids. If you want to ask any specific questions, feel free to DM me.

I live in the hillside of New Haven, I don’t trust a soul around here much less with my kids!! Lol but thanks for the idea, I will look into a fb group and see what I find… I like the older kid idea too, and he actually has older cousins that take the bus, I’m gonna talk to them as well. I started the job Monday and so far I’ve been able to work this out myself but after training I’ll definitely need the transportation for him.

That area isn’t bad at all. Most of the crime is stolen packages, car break ins, etc. That section Whalley by Blake is pretty brutal with public drinking, loitering, etc., so I wouldn’t plan on walking with the fam by there. It can also get fairly noisy from traffic and the occasional roving dirt bike brigade. You can get a better sense of specific crimes from the city’s website.

Most schools nowadays have a FB page where you can network with other parents and see if someone is willing to help. Aren't there other kids getting on/off at same bus stop? Maybe an older kid would be willing to walk him to your door for you. Making friends in your neighborhood is essential as a parent lol. Maybe even an older, retired lady would love to help out.
