Hi!! Curious about recommendations for a vet in New Haven.
I have not explored many vets in the area, but I chose Vet Associates of Westville based on the online reviews.
I’ve been taking my two cats there for about a year and have felt very taken care of by the Vets here.
I second this. My cat recently passed but I have been going to them with her for years. I dreaded going when she was older but they explained her options from Most to least expensive and let me chose. They were caring and sensitive and I loved the servies there.
I love Dr Mags at Spring Glen. He and his staff are smart and caring.
We have two small dogs and really appreciate Dr. Mag's ability to communicate his thought process on treatment options. I personally prefer him of Dr. Cosgrove at Spring Glen.
I couldn't agree more! I have found him to be incredibly thoughtful and incisive, and my pets have given him so real challenges over the years! I also find his techs to be incredibly competent and caring.
Same here! Dr. Mags is great. Really appreciate how you talks you through options and gets on your pets level to calm them down before exams
if cats, i love the staff at New England Cat Care.
We were also happy with vca foxon in east haven when we had our dog
I’ll second VCA Foxon
Third
Fourth for VCA Foxon
Second NECC for cats. They’ve been great
I second the recommendation for New England Cat Care. I have only had great experiences there. They are not the cheapest, but they really do care about the animals and their owners. The staff are kind, attentive and thorough. A lot of other veterinary offices rush you through a 15 minute appointment. The vets and vet techs are New England Cat Care spent over 45 minutes with me and my cat. They made sure my cat was comfortable as could be (in a veterinary office, anyway) before doing any tests.

Haven't found one I trust yet...
Not New Haven, but I had great experiences with North Haven Animal Hospital.
Second this!
Not in New Haven, but Country Companions in Bethany is my go to. They are also my family's farm's go to for our large animals. Dr. McClure and her staff are the best.
I’ve really appreciated the vets I’ve worked with at Veterinary Wellness Center of New Haven. Perhaps pricy, but they’ve been very accommodating and have provided great care for my dog who has battled two infections in the last 3 months.
Personally, I would not recommend Veterinary Wellness Center of New Haven. The people were very nice, but they seemed much more interested in my credit card than helping my dog. They got her breed wrong and never bothered correcting it, never recorded her prescription food, and never helped me get it. Every time I'd bring her in they'd do some other random expensive check-up she wasn't scheduled to have. When she was dying, they gave me frustratingly zero help. I wish I knew about the place in Westville people above are talking about. I got a lot of good help from the people at Central Hospital in North Haven and definitely can recommend them.
I like the veterinary wellness center. My dog has been in 2 times in the last 6 months and both of the minor issues were taken care of. Vets are nice and knowledgeable. It is expensive but so is every other vet.
Spring Glen Veterinary is amazing. Dr Mags is one of the best vets I've ever interacted with, great about explaining everything.
Came here to say I’ve had great experiences at Westville. My senior cat has been adored, and I’ve never been pushed into doing unneeded tests. Prices have been reasonable. They even took a cute pic of her once and posted it on their Instagram. All staff have been excellent as well.
Dr. Bates at Manchester Vet Clinic is amazing, and brilliant.
I realize Manchester is a little trek. But.
Bethany Veterinary Hospital. Hands down.
I’ve had good experiences at both Banfield in North Haven and Guilford Veterinary Hospital, specifically Dr. Dale.
It’s a bit of a distance - but I’ve had great experience with the Meriden Animal hospital with both of my cats.

A friend recommended Veterinary Associates of Westville after my dog received poor treatment from another local (and grifty) vet that would have killed her.
The doctors and staff at Westville are knowledgeable, inquisitive, and attentive. They will actively try to save you money by avoiding unecessary tests or treatments. My dog was 14 years old when we became patients there. She received outstanding care and lived to be 16. They helped with her end of life care, and after she passed away they sent a condolence card and made a donation to animal shelter in her name.
