With Blue State gone, I need a new plug for whole coffee beans. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Perkatory has some great light roasts.
Definitely agree, great light roasts and they change up their specials every month with some pretty wacky drinks. Can't recommend enough!
Check out The Coffee Pedaler on state street.
Coffee pedaler is great and the stuff the sell is top notch, but not always locally roasted strictly speaking. I think they usually carry Tandem, which is some excellent coffee but based in Portland. I have a subscription with the Tandem which ends up working out to be less money than buying from the Coffee Pedaler for me, at least as of the last time I did the math.
Oooo will check it out!
Common Grounds Hamden, I have liked their stuff
The Jitter Bus has Giv Coffee from Canton. Definitely one of the best roasters in the state. They'll sell whole beans by weight.
Atticus carries an excellent local roaster from Fairfield co., im forgetting their name though.
Poppy's recently started roasting their own and they're steadily improving.
Blue State tended to roast on the medium/darker side for their light roasts, if you prefer that Willoughby's is as close as it gets.

Ilse? They were based in Stamford for a while, though have since moved way up to North Canaan. Their beans are very good though. Very expensive, but very good quality beans. I've got one of their Ethiopia's now and it's great.
Atticus Market also sometimes carries other some other beans from other roasters, but those roasters are usually not based in Connecticut.
Yes, Ilse is what I was thinking of. Agreed on the expense, but they're consistently good.
Willoughby is okay. I usually find they’re over roasted, but I also found Blue State over roasted so it might be good for your tastes. There’s also Poppy’s on Whitney but I’ve been less impressed with the quality of their coffee.
I’ve liked the light roasts I’ve gotten from Poppy’s, especially the Rwanda they have right now.
Willoughby's
Not New Haven but close by is One World in East Haven. By far the BEST beans I’ve ever had. They do free one day delivery to New Haven county too so you don’t even need to drive out there.
And the owner is a really good guy

This thread is from about 3 weeks ago, should be helpful too
Giv Coffee is excellent. A bit of a drive in Canton but they ship free. I’ve heard good things about Willoughby’s but haven’t tried. I like Perkatory too.
They usually carry Giv beans at Pistachio cafe as well!
For local, I like Giv - you can do mail order, and some coffeeshops like Pistachio sell it. Also Fussy Coffee, Story and Soil (in Hartford) and other high-end cafes sell interesting bags from around the US. Willoughby's is also very good.
Willoughbys has good coffee

I got a bag from Poppy's and it was good. The place is owned by the same people who own East Rock Coffee, and they recently started roasting their own beans. But I usually order online from different places, tbh. My go-to's are: Cocoa Cinnamon or Joe Van Gogh in Durham, NC, Atomic Roasters in MA.
Why did Blue State close? Visited them once in Hartford before COVID

>Commons Grounds Cafe, another small Connecticut chain, bought three of New Haven’s four Blue State Coffee locations in October 2022 on Wall Street, York Street, and Congress Avenue. Blue State’s location at 534 Orange Street will remain in business.
>Blue State Coffee was founded in 2004 by Andrew Ruben ’11, LAW ’17. His mother, Chief Executive Officer Carolyn Greenspan, led the chain’s expansion to six locations across New England. But now, she said, is the right time to move on and focus on other projects.
Blue point
You don't have the beans, Larry!

I support as many local coffee shops as I can, but the bean game here is embarrassing.

New to the area but Perkatory is the best I've found. The Branford location isn't far away.
