I am looking for creative spaces with other people who do things like woodworking, welding, and other creative shop arts for my partner who is newer to the area. I am familiar with MakeHaven, but have heard mixed reviews. Any suggestions would be helpful!

I'm also surprised to hear anything but glowing reviews for Makehaven, it is an utterly fantastic space. I've been a member for years now, and I'm always impressed by how much they continue to add and innovate.

also worth seeing East Street Arts- New Haven, primarily created by people with disabilities, but looks like opportunities for everyone.

Does anyone know if high schoolers can join MakeHaven?

I believe that members need to be at least 18 years old, but minors may be able to accompany adult members if they're under direct supervision.

>MakeHaven is an adult makerspace. Children may not become members. However, if you are the legal guardian of a minor, they may accompany you in the space. Guardians must supervise minors the entire time. Minors, like all guests, cannot operate badged equipment, but are welcomes to be a part of the making in terms of assembly and design.

Dunno what the "mixed reviews" are, but Makehaven is exceptional. Incredible facilities and people. You will do no better than that in the area.
