So, I recently went to the Bow Tie Criterion theaters and they had a sign up about insomnia Theatre/ late night screenings of older probably cult movies.

Does anyone remember these? Were they popular enough to try to ask the theater to resume them?

Are there any other local theaters with horror/sci Fi screenings that may fit the generaly theme I'm talking about? Or even film festival type stuff?

I'm just trying to find more activities locally, and feel a little more involved, and I figured movies aren't the worst place to start.

They also had movies and mimosas on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I never went to those, but I did go to insomnia theater a few times. I remember seeing Jaws there. I think it was the 2010s. I don't remember the theater being full so I'm not sure they'd bring it back but I'd go if they did.

I think they stopped for covid, and I'm wondering if there just hasn't been enough interest to bring it back.

CT Cult Classics does a bi-monthly horror / cult double feature at the Strand Theater in Seymour. Recent themes have included John Carpenter Night, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Creepshow, etc

Yeah, it's a pretty great time. The guy that puts it on goes all out with grindhouse trailers and stuff between flicks, and they do giveaways of memorabilia and stuff.

I was just talking to my husband about how much I missed them when we were there last weekend. That and the mimosas and a movie on Sundays.

They were fun! Honestly though, the insomnia start time got rough as I got older. I'm pretty sure I saw The Room as a midnight. Going to Sunday morning old sci-fi with my dad was also kind of great.
