Husky-Friendly Apartments in New Haven

I'm moving to New Haven later this spring from the Midwest and I'm looking for recommendations for Siberian Husky-friendly apartments. I keep seeing places say they're pet friendly then I find out about their restricted breeds list. Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

I don't have any specific apartment recommendations, but I do recommend looking into each apartment's specific policies before writing them off. Ived lived in buildings in/around NYC that had similar policies, but all they required was a note from a vet stating they were up to date on shots. There were Huskies, Pitbulls, and German Shepards in the building. All were technically not allowed, but it was never a problem for me or anyone else we knew in the building. Good luck.

Just a quick local tip, our state university mascot is a husky (UConn Huskies) and students/alumni are called "huskies" so you will want to clarify to people you are looking for an apartment that is husky-dog-friendly. Elsewhise people may think you're looking for a student-friendly apartment.

Afaik Farnam doesn’t have restrictions—I’ve known of all sorts of usually restricted breeds in their buildings

There were a lot of dogs in Strouse Adler (PMC Property), I don't remember huskies specifically but it didn't seem like there were restricted breeds.

Not the most upscale building in town, but also not a slumlord like some of the big property companies in the area. Wooster Square is nearby and has a lot of people walk their dogs there. It's not a huge park though, a husky might be better off up near East Rock if you can find a place.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've been reading mixed things about PMC, but it sounds like they're a little more balanced than some other property managers I've been seeing on the "avoid at all costs" lists lol. Will definitely check them out more.

We never had any maintenance issues that we needed them to fix, so I can’t vouch for responsiveness on that. But also, we never had any maintenance issues that we needed them to fix because the apartment was in decent shape.

I can say the elevators were each out of service multiple times in the year I lived there, it’s got two but a pretty long walk around between them. Living on the ground floor meant we avoided that regardless.

Got the entire security deposit back as well.
