Agreed, the city really let down residents. Empty malls make it even worse.

I think the mall being in its current state is just a sign of the times. Has happened to many areas with low-moderate population density. The movie theatre over there is apparently shutting down soon too.

The mall failed due to greed by the property owners who used it as a tax loss write-off.

I think that area should just stay empty as is, a lot of birds like it. Unfortunately they don't pay rent for it.
Maybe use that empty mall right down the road..?
