I wish they'd set up housing or transportation for some of the inmates released. Have known of situations where inmates were released from the Carroll county jail with nothing but the clothes on their back only to be later picked up by the local fire department and ambulance to be transported to the ER because they had no other options for transportation when released from jail and were spotted on the side of the road hitch hiking in winter and passer bys called it in. I wouldn't be surprised if this similar thing happens at other county jails in the state as well

I think every county jail is like that. I used to volunteer for an emergency shelter in strafford county, one night it was like 10 degrees out, and this chick showed up in a t-shirt and flip flops. She had been arrested/sentenced during the summer, and released in January. They didn't even give her a ride to the shelter, just pushed her out the door and said good luck.

I think Merrimack County gives people taxi vouchers and they call a cab. They did in 2018

Considering strafford county doc is out in the middle of nowhere, a cab voucher program would be awesome. I do know that there's a public transit stop near the doc, but I don't know if they give out vouchers for it. The year that this happened, coast was giving free rides to the shelter, but they don't do that anymore.

wow you would THINK they would have some sort of generic moon boots and parka with a hood they would release inmates in. would only cost maybe $60 for a whole outfit from china, and would at least keep the releasee from getting frostbite and costing thousands of dollars at the ER to treat, on taxpayer money.

Imagine the help that could be provided to NH citizens with state funds vs. letting them vote themselves a pay raise to do nothing.

How many convicted criminals have you allowed to live in your house for free? You can be part of the solution.
