It's actually really good to have the fentanyl NOT look like normal pills. People not knowing what they are taking is the whole problem.

Honestly countless. This is very very common. People think they are taking oxycodone or even heroin and end up with a batch of fentanyl and overdose.

Are you living in the same state as me? This has been going on here for the better part of a decade. This is not remotely far fetched.

Having spent a lot of time in NH NA meetings, I can tell you that it 100% is far fetched. The vast majority of fent overdoses are from dealers stepping on their product too much and then boosting it with this shit. No one is taking these pills by accident.

If you buy heroin and it's cut with fent that is not intentional. Obviously you don't take the pills on accident but if you are told they are oxy and they aren't that is accidental on the part of the user.

I have 2 family members who were given pills that looked EXACTLY like the legit ones. Same sizes as the real ones, same marking etc. They are both dead now from fentanyl overdoses

What? Fentanyl is cheap and easy to OD. It's a very common substitute for other substances.

Are they doing it to get new customers or are they just copying existing prescription medications?

They're doing it to evade customs. The concentrations in these pills are extremely high and aren't meant to be taken by users. They're meant to be brought into the US in an inconspicuous package, crushed up and then mixed in with heroin thats been cut with whatever. Dealers aren't hurting for customers, by any stretch. The opposite problem is usually the sticking point for them: demand outstrips supply. There's a lot of weird hysteria around fentanyl lately where everybody thinks that dealers are hanging around trying to hook kids with colorful pills but that's not how it works. That's never been how it worked.

Neither, these are actually easier to tell apart from the ones that mimic real prescriptions.

I believe they ran a similar news story close to Halloween cuz they were disguising it to look similar to kids candy, that may get distributed on Halloween. Sadly, we don't need cartels to push anything when they are easily purchasing pill presses online and manufacturing whatever they choose, so long as they can pass for whatever they want to get out onto the street. We are still experiencing record high fentanyl poisoning cases in NH, MA and much of our area in New England. Only this particular version of it, is easily marketed to kids. With cannabis becoming legal in many areas, fentanyl will often be disguised as a fun-looking candy type bracelet or candy necklace. Before people realize they are in trouble, poisoning can come on pretty quickly, starting with breathing problems rather abruptly. It also doesn't appear to be as harmful as once reported to First Responders, due to Covid masking and being transmitted in more of a solid form, rather than a loose powder. I believe this is still one of the highest rates of death in the area.

Our terrible punitive drug policy actually encourages low volume high potency opioids. The drug war has been going on for decades and the flow never once stopped.
