There is a road tax on diesel and not on oil.
You can actually claim diesel not used on road against your taxes.
It is 💯% illegal to use oil in an on road diesel vehicle.

You are looking for “off road” diesel. It has a red dye in it and meant to be used for tractors. You avoid the tax and it will work in your oil burner.

This right here. It will definitely work and will not hurt anything. Off road diesel is not taxed and since you aren’t using it on the road.
