I saw that my local SLS (oops, I mean outlet) is hiring.

It appears all positions are part time (no benefits). Are there any perks for working a SLS? Employee discounts? Can you buy Blanton’s before it hits the shelves? Or Van Winkle?

Just curious.

One benefit, you get access to the internal state job listing and that's where you can get full time/manager or get into another agency.

Wife worked for one, hours sucked, pay was laughable, no benefits. It was a pretty chill atmosphere at least (your location may vary). I honestly think it's embarrassing to treat members of a "State Agency" like Dollar Store employees.

The pay used to be the big thing that set it apart from other retail. It hasn't kept up, and now they pay less than other retail.

Go work at a grocery store, you'll make more money and get more benefits without as much liability.

no benefits... or discounts but you know when the sales are going to happen.

Definitely yes on Blanton's, or you can just put an order in with someone who does work there and they will hold the item for you.

Worked at the I-93 store for years back when it was the tiny store and when they transitioned to the new one. No benefits, pay sucks, customers are rude, and you don't even get discounts on the products.

Years back the pay was good compared to other retail.

Now, not so much.
