Salem in October, especially on the weekends, is insane. Mostly in a bad way. Great place to visit but expect traffic jabs, inflated parking and mobs of people on weekends this month.

Just to warn you, my husband and I attempted to go to Salem last week. We figured a weekday at the beginning of October wouldn't be too bad. We were wrong. It was completely mobbed and it was impossible to find parking anywhere. The crowds seem to be much worse this year for whatever reason. If you do plan to go, get there very early and expect crowds.
