I've been looking at a move to NH recently and with apartments as expensive as they seem to be in Portsmouth, Merrimack/Nashua are looking a little more attractive. Anyone in this reddit with any experience with "SLATE at Merrimack Apartments" and can comment? I WFH and mostly will be driving everywhere, so not too concerned about area mechanics other than crime. I'll be recreating in Portsmouth, Boston, Hanover/Lebanon/southern VT (and in the mountains during ski season).

Merrimack is a good, albeit boring, place to live. I know nothing about SLATE except that they're brand new and right next to the outlets, with easy access to route 101A. 101A has a (very busy) Market Basket, a Whole Foods further down and many many shops and restaurants ranging from very good to dreadful.

Slate is brand new so I don't think that many have a lot of experience with it. The location is excellent for what you want to do though. I live a few miles from those apartments and the you have easy access to Exit 10 and can run down to Boston or up to Portsmouth or Vermont. I go down to Boston once a week and just drive around the heavy traffic hours. Portsmouth is an easy shot on 101 to 93. You can also go to Hampton Beach if you want or the beaches in southern Maine.

NH is usually in the top 3 in terms of safest states in the country. One thing that I've noticed for many years is that there has often been a police car at the bottom of the hill where Slate is now looking for speeders driving from the Merrimack Premium Outlets. We do go to DCU and Qdoba regularly so we know the area well. You will also have access to a ton of retail in Nashua.

I find it a lot easier to take the highway down to Exit 7W to get to Whole Foods or Exit 8 to get to the other Market Basket. There are a lot of grocery shopping options in the area.

I think rents are cheaper in Tyngsboro and Westford. Much easier access to Boston too.
