so i was home shopping and recently came across a website https://www.dea.gov/clan-lab where it has records (not comprehensive) of homes that have been used as a meth lab. i saw that many of the houses next to these meth labs are recently sold at pretty astronomical prices (upward of 400k/500k/600k). are home buyers aware of the neighbor's stigmatized house? where in NH can I find more information about these? i obviously don't want to be a neighbor of a meth production site.

Half these recent homebuyers are putting offers in sight unseen… if a little meth lab next door is gonna stop you, you’re never gonna get a house in this market.

I'll tell you what my grandma told me. Don't buy meth until it's produced.

I haven’t told my neighbors about my meth lab yet.

Home cooks are largely a thing of the past. It's more of a cartel thing and produced on a large scale.

Not sure what the point of that site is. It's not clandestine if the DEA knows about it, and presumably it's been busted and cleaned up.

Real estate agents depend on referrals. If I hire a buyer’s broker, I’d tell them I expect to be informed of any issues that would affect the value of the house that they know about or should know about. If a law that affects my purchase is likely to be passed, I want to know about it. I want my broker to look out for me as they would themselves. If they don’t, they won’t get a good referral out of me and I might sue.

Years ago I saw a listing for a house in Berlin (IIRC) that was super cheap even by Berlin pricing. In the description was something like: "Do not enter, hazardous chemical site." and a link to the DEA. Busted but not cleaned.

Not to mention how many meth labs do you think are actually in NH? You never know, there may be a small mom and pop type deal out there but as far as I know from what I’ve read, it’s almost impossible to make the stuff without access to heavily restricted industrial chemicals. They have factories cranking it out south of the border. I genuinely wouldn’t worry about this in NH.

Never much cared what my neighbors were doing, especially what they did before I even got there...
