So a couple of my neighbors keep telling me about getting some free salt & dirt here in town and when I ask them for directions it's just "Yeah, you're gonna wanna go down the road for a bit until you see an old town road of the left, and head down there for a bit and you'll take the second right after the big tree stump."
BRO!! WTF are they even saying?

Tried asking for clarification to no avail. So I'm reaching out to you lovely folks of Reddit. Anyone know where I can find the local salt/dirt pile here in Lempster? I know where to find some in Gilsum, but I don't wanna feed off of that town since I'm not a resident there.

Call the town, and see what they say?

Some towns offer it at either the dump or their DPW barn.

I'm surprised they are giving out salt, but that is pretty cool if they do.

If you end up looking to buy salt, the cheapest I typically find are the 50 pound bags of vaporizer at HD. It's just plain old rock salt. They have two formulas of vaporizer-the 50 pound is cheaper than the 40 pound.

Lowes has some even cheaper 50 pound bags, but every time I go they are hardened into bricks.

Sounds like perfectly good directions to me. Be glad they're not referencing things that aren't there any more.

Go down past where the Sears used to be, turn left after the house where the Johnsons used to live, if you see the spot where the rusty old trailer was, you've gone too far.

If the town salts/sands your roads then they have a stock pile somewhere and often times there’s a pile for residents to shovel into their pickup trucks. I think they do this for residents and it’s not free when you’re paying $X,000 in property taxes every year to live in the town.

First off, it’s sand and salt … not dirt. Second, you are going to have to figure out to decipher directions like that if you plan to live somewhere like Lempster.

Free sand is almost always at the town highway department garage. It’s probably down the road a bit on the old town road.

I would call the town or the towns dpw or whatever. It's usually the towns stockpile for the roads but they let residents get some.

I don't know where in Lempster, but we just go to the town's public works yard and it's right outside. It's usually sand with some salt mixed in. Find your public works and you'll find the sand

Probably at your towns dpw or fire station.

The police desk Sergeant used to do that to the new guys fresh from the Academy, confident in their knowledge of all things.

"Investigate a suspicious car at Mooney's Garage." Where's that Sarge?

"Take a left and head east. Go past Kinkles Pond, and take the first left. Left again at the stop sign, then around Demoriak's Corner, then pull into the first parking lot on your right. Mooney's Garage is the next building."

First, none of those people have been alive since 1955. Second, he's just given you directions back to where you started, shy of 50 feet.

"The Exxon Station?! That I was across the street from?! There are no cars there at all!"

"Heh heh."
