Why does it show these but when I Google I see like -11 tops?? Looked at three different websites, all the same, with 15mph winds.

This this is the “wind chill” or “feels like” temperature. It looks more extreme so it makes for better headlines, and keeps viewers engaged longer yielding a higher click through rate and higher ad revenue.

Thanks. I have to drive at 6am Saturday and I’m scared to death after seeing so much about this situation. Bought a portable car battery charger but concerned my face is gonna fall off from windchill factors or something

You'll be just fine. Maybe start the car and let it warm up before you leave.

Agree. Gas up before the temp drops, put a blanket in your car just for your peace of mind. You'll be fine.

Keep water, snack and blankets in your car just in case.

The crazy numbers are wind chill / "real feel". The -11 is the low for the actual temperature.

Might seem stupid at first, but as far as how dangerous it is, and how miserable it'll be outside, there's a huge difference between a low temperature and a low temperature with high winds.

Thanks I appreciate it. Ugh what a time to have to leave the house.

Yeah, do your groceries today or tomorrow. Not saying you'll have no access to food, but you're probably going to want to get comfy inside Friday.

Not sure why those websites are reporting those numbers. I saw that too. However, here is the very reliable National Weather Service (NOAA) report out of Grey Maine.
