This is based on sales, not actual consumption. Our state liquor stores do a great job of marketing to the surrounding states.

I mean, hell man, we've even got state liquor stores at interstate highway rest areas. And there seems to be a liquor store within 5 miles of every border crossing on every highway that enters from another state.

Surrounding states?! Their biggest customers come from NYC with $9,999 in straight casssshhhhhh homie.

Then they stop at 3-4 stores and spend that at each one. They come weekly.

I'd consider NY to be one of the surrounding states. The Chesterfield, NH liquor store is closer to Albany, NY (82miles) than it is to Portsmouth, NH (121 miles). There are usually vans with NY plates in the parking lot.

It's not even that much of a joke.

I go to the liquor store 2-3 times a year and every time I see someone buying like 8 cases of wine.
