The T-Rex Paddock breakout scene from Jurassic Park. What made the scene so intense was that this was not a movie monster out for blood; it was an unpredictable wild animal just being an animal. It also happens to be the most fearsome predator to have ever walked the earth.
They easily could have had the Rex break out, go right after the kids immediately and start causing mayhem. Instead, the Rex looks and sniffs around, investigates things, acts curious, and slowly amps up the aggression once it starts realizing that there is prey inside the vehicles. Even before chomping on the lawyer, Rex cocks it’s head like a dog and looks at him trying to figure out what it is until it finally lunged.
Traditional monsters are fairly predictable. We know they are out to kill and harm people. They’re is little to no mystery with them. But an animal like a bear? You really have no idea what it will do.
