"Dragos" wasn't an inevitability at all. It was simply the first idea Stallone had pop into his head, and so it was the only idea he ever pursued. And it shows.

i think Coogler would have preferred not touching Rocky people at all. although this new story reminded me of Tommy Morrison one

The great irony is that this was a d always has been Stallone's franchise. Creed would not exist without Rocky and it's kinda weird he was pushed out of his own franchise
