Hopper plays a hippie activist on the run for 20 years that's finally been apprehended. Sutherland is the straight-laced FBI agent that has to transport him for trial. Hijinks then obviously ensue.
The film pretty much bombed at the box office. I remember it being on Comedy Central a lot for a brief period of time. I don't think I've ever seen it from the beginning to end. I remember it being pretty slight as far as buddy comedies go. I hadn't thought of this movie in years before I saw this news. Might be worth a rental on Amazon.

Yeah, and I think Hopper is actually his dad…there was a weird twist like that.

This had one great line in the trailer: "Once we get out of the '80's, the '90's are going to make the '60's look like the '50's!"

County Govt Job, four employees, $12 Million in purchasing card fraud. Found it as a new manager doing approvals. Turns out the VP and Directors knew and encouraged me to let the past slide. 5 people ended up in prison, VPs and Directors replaced.

This is a part of a marketing hype that was convinced that Gen X was going to be a hippy rebirth. There were other movies and tv shows at this time like Rude Awakening with Eric Roberts.
Kids from communes did start coming out to the real world at this time. They always had weed, so they were welcomed for that, but some were messed up and resembled stereotypical hillbillies.

That didn't age too well...

Couple years ago was thinking of this movie but couldn't think of the title. All I recall was Kiefer was riding in a train. He had an overnight room. Feel like watching this again.
