This is both really cool and really terrifying.

The article is new but I swear I've seen the video at the bottom of the piece a couple years ago? Maybe only just last year.

Either way: It looks pretty bad.

It's also really shitty timing for this, since every other article from every other entertainment outlet seems to be about people putting subtitles on for everything anyway.

Spending money to AI people's mouths so they're not distracted by the lip-flap probably isn't going to be much of a concern now that everyone's finally over their weird hangups about subtitles.

This will be amazing for NPC design in games.

No, we will not get more from Philip Seymour Hoffman because it will NOT be Philip Seymour Hoffman. That's a very shallow way of looking at an actor's performance and them as a human being.

An AI is not the person and pretending it is is incredibly disrespectful, imo.

Tom Cruise is going to be starring in Mission Impossible movies for 200 years after his death. His estate is going to single-handedly keep Scientology afloat.

I wouldn't be surprised if within 10 years we will see films completely made by AI. Actors either selling their identity or having it stolen to be used in film or more illicit/damning things.

And more movies with Robin Williams.

Fifty years from now there will be a really solid AI software, to which you write ,,Make a movie directed by Quentin Tarantino, with script from Aaron Sorkin, music by John Williams, happening in Wild West 1868, about four hours long, with cast of actors such as Clint Eastwood (30s), John Wayne (50s), Gregory Peck (40s), Katharine Hepburn (30s), Scarlett Johansson (30s), Humphrey Bogart (50s), Leonardo DiCaprio (40s), Harrison Ford (30s)... set in the whole America, with a short part happening in Mexico."

I see it.

Not everyone uses subtitles when watching films or TV when they’re in their own language. I’ve always found it to be incredibly distracting unless it’s a non-English soundtrack. Of course, I have a pretty decent sound setup, so I rarely have issues with hearing what people are saying, except for rare cases like what Nolan did with Tenet. I personally think this tech is pretty cool to be honest.

While different languages I guess is one pote Tualatin application, this is pro ably more about changing lines or removing curse words. Think theybdid that in thr film "Fall" recently.
