Personally my favorites movies growing up (excluding disney's / pixar's animation) :

• Indiana Jones (The original trilogy)
• The Lord of the Rings (but the orcs are maybe a bit scary)
• Harry Potter
• Pirates of the Carribean
• National Treasure
• Bedtime Stories
• Night at the Museum

I don't know if you consider them Child Appropriate but I find them all to be fun and full of adventures when I was a child (<10 years old). I find treasure hunting movies, etc is always fun to watch

and I need to mention Kung-Fu Panda, the best animation movie imo
