Question about SEE HOW THEY RUN (2022) - Spoilers!

The film came out four months ago but I just saw it during the holidays. I thought it was fun, and all made sense, except for one scene (again, spoilers):

Why did all the characters 1) attend the play they've seen a hundred times, 2) then go into the hallway during the play? It seemed like it was just so another character could be killed and they could all be suspects. But what was their plan? No one was ever interrogating and no one never gave an explanation. Was this just lazy writing to make a major plot point and misdirection happen?

It’s been a minute since I’ve seen it, but I thought it showed each of them noticing something to be suspicious of and following different people to different places.

I thought there was an intricate web of stuff going on there that just so happened to ruin all of the alibis.

But yeah, their involvement necessitated their presence. That’s life in theatre, watching the same play every night for months on end.

I'm talking about the playwright, the producer, etc. They must have seen the play a thousand times but they were in the audience with their dates. Then they all went to the hallway just a few minutes into the show -- why? Except to give us a lot of suspects for the second murder?

Was it because it was the celebratory 100th performance of the mousetrap?

That was several nights before, when the first murder took place. I'm talking about halfway through the film when Stoppard invited Stalker to attend the play with him to see if they could find anything. Somehow, ALL the suspects also attended (including the actors, obviously) and then many of them went into the hallway, causing Stoppard and Stalker to (separately) follow them. I can't imagine why this happened in terms of character. I KNOW why it happened for the plot, because it was the second murder and we needed lots of suspects to be present.

Hmmm, I’m not sure. I thought the second murder was the 100th performance. Maybe I’ll check that scene out again

Nope — that was the party at the very beginning when the first murder occurred.
