In my opinion it started with a 10/10 film and then 50 mins in they kill the main lead and switch the story on its head. I appreciate what they did and dont get me wrong it was amazing to watch but I would have wanted the first 50 mins plot line just to carry on and honestly I think they could have made a more enjoyable film. But what do I know lol

I get your opinion. The killing of Gosling that early surprised me. But it works for the film. Cause its about fathers and their sons and the impact fathers have on their sons.

My friend absolutely loves the film and thinks it's a masterpiece. I think it's alright, but I feel like they could have made it better. It's a strange movie now that I think of it because I don't know what exactly keeps it down. It was quite boring to watch at times, but an interesting concept nonetheless.

I think its like 3 movies in a row with similar themes instead of focusing in on what made the first act so great. Honestly its not perfect but Driver also led by Ryan Gosling is the type of person he should have been to make him the main guy though out not just change it up every 30 minutes

I love this movie, and think it's one of the more underrated movies from the past decade.

But I get your feeling with the misdirection. Definitely intentional by the writer/director.

Before I watched it, it looked like it was going to be very similar to Drive. Then the start of it was very similar to Drive. Was pleasantly surprised when they knocked all that on the head and did something different.

Fair play was 1 year after Driver was released so they had all the options to make this film great but it still remains only pretty good in my opinion

in that case, just watch Drive and imagine that Ryan Gosling's character got away and learned from his mistakes.

I disagree completely with this, if it had just been like the first 50 minutes the movie would have just felt too similar to drive and would probably be long forgotten. Obviously it’s a matter of preference but for me I wouldn’t make any changes to it I think it’s perfect just the way it is. You get the thrilling well choreographed chase scenes but you also get this really powerful story about fate and fatherhood that made the movie very impactful.

The first segment was great, the second segment was ok, the third segment was terrible.
