What a thoroughly entertaining ride that movie is. I went into it blind, and having never really watched any other movies out of India before. Now I'm a bit upset that I've been missing out on gems like this one. I'd love to know what else is out there of a similar epic style. The history, the action sequences, the music and even the special effects. All top notch, and definitely impressed me.

Just out of interest how many people watched it after seeing a vfx breakdown on corridor digital? I had to stop watching so I did not spoil the movie.
I was taken back by the sheer story, would love to have seen this on the big screen. Man I loved this movie beginning to end. Cant get over how good it was!
You should check out Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. They are the director of RRRs previous movies. Both have the same kinds of epicness and over the top action. They are also on Netflix.

In original Telugu it's Roudram Ranam Rudhiram, or Fierce Death and Blood.
It has a different name that holds to the theme and the alliteration in every language. The actual reason it's named RRR is because it's the combined talents of Actors N.T. Rama Rao Jr, Ram Charan and director SS Rajamouli. Apparently (I'm American so this is like...7th hand knowledge), that's roughly the equivalent of if it was 1996 and Tom Cruise and Will Smith made a movie with Steven Spielberg.

It's more like wrath, war and blood. Ranam definitely means war not death.
This was a brilliantly produced and fantastically acted epic that takes two real-life revolutionaries and spins their tales into a superhero origin story that gives us a "What if these two legendary heroes teamed up?" And this really is a superhero movie, one that rivals anything found coming out of the Marvel and DC factories, only with this particular outing we get a fun Bollywood dance-off and one of the best "Animals Attack" sequences in years.
It doesn't just rival them, it reveals them to be empty, weightless nothings.
I suppose you could check out KGF. It's got two parts (I haven't seen the second one yet) but the first one has got everything you asked for. History, action, music etc.
It's got a 'guy takes on an army' feel to it.

there is oceans and heavens of diff between an RRR and a KGF. RRR is a character driven aesthetically shot film with great foreshadowing and symbolism(even in MUSIC) whilst KGF is LOUD ASS HERO WORSHIP FILM. U Simply cant put the two films in the same bracket!!
Well objectively speaking, they've both got loud music, hero worship sequences and unbelievable action sequences (by unbelievable I mean "are you kidding me there's no way that guy did that"). KGF has got the hero taking on 50 people? RRR has got the hero taking on 100 people if not more. But wait, it's also got a guy fending off a tiger on his own. So yes, I simply can put it in the same bracket because both of them, to me, are action movies that don't respect the audience's intelligence.
It's like watching a Fast & Furious movie. You know it's going to be over the top but as long as you enjoy it, it doesn't matter. At least to me.
