I remember this scene from a movie years ago, but have no idea what it's called. AFAIK it was loosely based on a 19th century doctor's voyage by ship. At some point someone tries to shoot a seagull from the deck and hits the doctor. Being the only doctor on board he has operate on himself with a mirror to extract the bullet.

Anybody know?

I saw it years ago and I have mostly forgotten it, but if you asked me to recall a scene, it would definitely be the cabin boy biting down on a bit of wood then getting sawed into pieces.
