For me it was Resident Evil (2002). I was 12 at the time it came out and was the hugest fan of the video games. I'm not one for trailers and this was when the internet wasn't nearly as popular or easy to access as it is today, so i knew nothing about the movie whatsoever.
I naively thought people would want to see the movie just as bad as me, so i begged my grandparents to take me to the first showing way early because "it might be sold out!" Maybe 10 people showed up total.
I dragged my beloved grandparents to this movie 30 minute early and for the 30 minutes we sat there waiting, i told them how amazing it was gonna be. "There's gonna be a giant snake that attacks them! And the shark scene is gonna RULE!" Just wait until you see how scary tyrant will be!" I'll never forget the excitement and anticipation i felt as the lights dimmed.
Then she wakes up in the mansion. My excitement level reaches its all time high. "OMG THIS IS GONNA RULE!"
Minutes later she left the mansion, went underground, and I became stuck in horrified silence, unable to move as the rest of the movie just...happened to me. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed walking out of a movie in my entire life.
