Boring is one way to put it. I thought the pace was slow but I was never bored. The pacing is really what made me like it so much. I didn't want a Batman action movie. I wanted a Batman detective thriller.

I agree it was overlong.

The movie is gorgeous and the action/performances are great, but holy christ did it drag on. I felt bored in a way I never did during the nolan batman films.

This movie was just a different style of Batman that we really haven’t seen before.

The first hour bored you to the verge of tears, so you watched another hour. Did you need a good cry or something? Like how long does it take to figure out a movie isn't for you?

Yeah, I agree with this. I thought the pacing was just right compared to the film's runtime (which, tbf, was a little overkill). But I saw the movie twice in the theaters when it was out and I loved it both times. I've probably seen it fifty more times since then, lmao.

And also why was there no story to how batman learned to fight how catwoman learned to fight... It should have flashbacks with his parents to make us more emotional about his parents death

Yep, didn't like anything about it. Pacing was bad, the plot pretty boring, and the Riddler performance laughable.

Also, the whole point of Batman as a force against crime, is that he has tools and methods unavailable to the police, but in this he's just a dude who turned his back on his wealth, drives a muscle car, and strolls into crime scenes like a consultant.

I prefer Batman visiting crime scenes before or after the cops get there.

Tonally the movie veered too much into grounded territory, whereas Nolan's movies struck the right balance between grounded and batshit comic shenanigans.

Wait, I thought you were saying this ironically at first. Because the fact that we see Batman's origin story in every movie has become a meme at this point, actually wanting to see more of that is a pretty unpopular take I think.

I wouldn’t say boring. But too long and very very grim. I mean even Nolan’s Batman had some lighthearted moments to ease the tension for a while. The Batman was fucking depressing at times.

If anything, I like the way the movie tackles Bruce's parents' death. Not how they die, but why they die, with the Riddler, Falcone, and Alfred all having their own version of why they died, but the origin stays the same. I like that they went about it that way. That's just me, idk.

But batmans either Thats a diferent batman not nolans. They could be creative with his families death. Like in every batman series they are creative with how they bring it up but here they were lazy

Interestingly I thought the first half was great. For me the second half was a huge disappointment.

I thought Batman could have had a more active role in it. It’s a lot of scenes of him going around listening to people.

No cause it was actualy interesting like there was a shock moment every 28 minutes it feels like. In batman u whould expect a 3 hour movie to have atleast back story thats what disapointed me the most 3 hours is too long around a plot. At one point its predictable

Interesting. I realy dont understand how to make a movie that everybody likes. I like for example dr strange mom and spiderman 3 while most people hate on them...but i like also infinity war and the original batman movies were goated

I do agree that the first half was the stronger section of the film, but also I liked the climax where it's revealed that the Riddler has this secret internet army willing to do his bidding. It was really interesting to me when I first saw it.

The answer is because Batman has existed for 80 years and there’s no narrative value in retreading Batman’s origins, especially when you’re not telling a Batman origin story.

This is Batman in his second year as a vigilante.

Also, the movie does enough explaining in the world building it does. When we see the Batcave and listen to the dialog, it’s clear that Bruce Wayne is highly devoted to his mission, trains relentlessly, and has been out fighting for well over 18 months. If you do anything every single night for nearly 2 years, you’ll get good at it.

BTAS also never gave an origin story and it’s the best Batman series of all time. The Arkham Asylum games, too. Even Origins kicks off at his second or third year.

Nolans batman was the best. Its just lazzy not taking time in a 3 hour movie to explain. In the arkham games u dont care cause u actualy wanna play the game. And spiderman also existed so long and they still showed us how he became spiderman in tasm. I just dont like batman being a merry sue. Like even in arrow or flash the only dc movies i watched have got better character introduction. Where is the character introduction in batman just a guy in a suit in a cave working with a cop we literaly know nothing else.if its a realistic batman movie how does catwoman know how to fight why dont they show us how she learns.

darthgong OP t1_iuakppa wrote

Agree.

The main think with this movie is the bad character introduction and lack of emotion we feel on them. In nolans movies i loved every character. They all felt special. In the batman u could swap alfred with batman and the tone whould stay the same
