According to Rotten Tomatoes King Kong (1933) has positive reviews from 98% of critics.

Terminator 2 has a positive review from 93%.

I don’t know where you got the idea that critics don’t hold these movies in high regard.

Your comments about snorting and red wine seem to indicate you are basing this off of stereotypes and your own assumptions, not what people have actually said.
