Think about it, the movie centres around misinformation and the police being used as a tool for violence and protecting the top 1% (the aliens) who are otherwise unidentifiable without magic glasses. They don’t go to church, wear specific clothing or observe any other unusual behaviour that is directly visible to non-aliens. On top of the main ‘goal’ of the aliens is to use global warming to destroy the planet and make it uninhabitable to humans and more like the alien home planet.

Which group has for decades given 0 shits about the environment? Yep, republicans.

I get that being social stupid is as American as apple pie but you’re really embarrassing yourself if you think They Live is about Jews. It’s as much about Jews as Fight Club is a movie about Kroger foods.

Dude, Carpenter has stated outright that the movie is about Reagan's America. He said without equivocation or caveat "it was about giving the finger to Ronald Reagan."

Though it didn’t do well on initial release, They Live is one of John Carpenter’s ever-more-revered films, because of its extraordinary prescience in depicting the fallout from the Reagan Revolution that overwhelmed American society in a disastrously complete way starting in the 1980s. Regarding the admiring reappraisal of the film, Carpenter says, “Over the years, what I was yelling and screaming about in economics, has become painfully clear to a lot of people. . . . The eighties never ended, and they’re really with us today.”

It's not for everybody but Slavoj Žižek's "Pervert's Guide to Cinema" features "They Live" and manages to make "They Live" well transcend the 80s.

Antisemitism is the socialism of fools. They Live is pretty obviously a Marxist allegory but for people who aren’t really familiar with Marxist theory it can give antisemitic vibes. Especially when neo nazi dipshits promote it as such.
