I take it you think of it as a good thing. But why? Don't music, editing, visuals make the scene what it is, or at the very least enhance it?

Sometimes I suppose it can but putting on a good 70's movie with just actors and dialogue carrying the scene on their own can be really good.
Serpico comes to mind as an example.
