I am trying to find a film title. The plot was roughly as follows: Man and women are strongly in love. The man gets tired of the woman, but woman is still in love. They make a deal where he can treat her as bad as he wants, if she can stay with him. He indeed starts treating her very bad. At some point he books holiday for both of them, they enter the plane. He leaves just before departure and lets her fly alone to somewhere.

It ends with an accident that puts him a wheel chair, and she starts caring for him.

The entire story is shown as flashback where she starts telling the story to a stranger while pushing his wheel chair.

I think the film was French, but I am not sure. I must have seen it approximately in 1988.

I think that the flashback was from a ship, but am not sure.
