Seriously, I watch this a few times per year and I am always impressed by how that kid transforms himself, entering the role so completely with just a little back story.
Most of the time sad or most other emotional scenes don't get to me. I cry in Homeward Bound when Shadow comes over the hill, proclaiming that he has been worried about Peter the whole time gets me.
But the way Henry embodies a kid trying to hold on to his best friend when it is insurmountable is just great. I love this video and while I am sure it has been uploaded before, I think it is usually a good watch.
Are there any other performances or auditions that hold a special pace in your heart? If so, please share!

This was Spielberg’s secret weapon and how he made SUCH compelling movies. Being able to tap into that childlike wonder and elicit these kinds of performances. There really aren’t many director’s who’ve been able to do that quite as well (or consistently) before or since in my opinion.
