I just have to rant, I thought the movie was good ( a little long) BUT I HATE WHEN MOVIES DO THIS- IT SAID STARRING CHLOE GRACE MORTEZ SO I WAS SO HYPE THEN??? SHES IN ONE FKING SCENE. AND WHOS THE LEAD ??? DAKOTA JEODKWK JOHNSON. no offense, she’s gorgeous and not a terrible actress it’s just next to Mia Goth and Tilda- WHY DIDNT THEY CAST CHLOE GRACE AS THE LEAD. my friend watched it and he said he thought Dakota did a good job so I think maybe it’s just me but Dakota Johnson really took me away from the movie…. It’s the MODERN FACE AFFECT

Where exactly did "it" say this?

Her credit on the poster says "and Chloe Grace Mortez"

this "and" usually implies they are not the star and just an appearance/supporting role.

Chloe alt account. 👀

She was also present at the end of the movie.

Considering it was one of three movies that she was in that were released in 2018, she may have been too busy for a bigger role. Or maybe she got the role she wanted? Not everyone wants a lead role.

yeah ik and I’m not saying it had to be her- just saying I think Chloe would’ve fit Dakota’s role much more. But I would love to know who else besides Dakota was considered

It would need to have been someone else willing to train for 2 years in ballet like Dakota did. I would think that would narrow down the choices considerably. There's some interesting information on the IMDB trivia page. Isabelle Fuhrman and Natalie Portman were originally considered. This was when David Gordon Green was attached to direct.

The worst thing about this movie is that it cemented the original in licensing hell

Where? In North America Synapse released an incredible restoration. Blu's in print. You can rent it or even watch the film for free on Tubi.

Really? I wasn’t aware of this. I remember trying to find the movie and it was fucking nowhere to be found

I actually think Dakota is quite good most of the time, maybe she’s got that fifty shades stamp dragging her down for some people. Similar to Robert Pattinson with twilight
