Does decompose equals disappear? I feel like plastic decomposing just means it turns into microplastics.

Plastic technically goes through photodegradation, where it is broken down by the sunlight until it is so tiny that it is essentially invisible

Basically. Microplastics eventually become nanoplastics, and these are everywhere, including in what we eat, drink, and breath.
