That sounds like a fiefholder problem.

Is it in a basement, or super old building? Looks like they needed room to install a sump pump, and didn’t want to cut the concrete to bury it.

That's the best because it allows you a moment to exert extreme power no matter who you are. If you are sitting on that and someone else enters the room they are instantly your submissive. Everyone deserves 10 minutes of this

We had a toilet like this in our shitty basement apartment in college. Ours was obviously much less stylish, but it was because the pipes were not in the floor (basement remodel in an existing building) so they needed to create space beneath for the toilet to drain. Our shower was raised up like this as well.

GillianOMalley t1_j64amoh wrote

I was going to say that this is almost certainly in a basement. I put a bathroom in my basement and it cost a fortune to buy a toilet (like 10x the cost of a regular one) that didn't need to be elevated.

11

beeboopPumpkin t1_j64b6qi wrote

Wow, yeah I bet it was expensive. I always felt like I was going to slip and break a hip getting out of the shower, but the toilet was kind of fun on the throne. I’m tall, though, so I could definitely see it being worth it to spend the extra money. I had to be careful standing up so I wouldn’t bonk my head… and the times I was hungover sick, it wasn’t fun needing to climb to the toilet to barf.

This picture gets worse the more I stare at it:

• sink blocks part of stairs (which is no thanks to the wall)

• the area up the stairs is unevee

• the TP dispenser’s position, both horizontally and vertically, because you’ll need to grab it before you sit

• the paper towel dispenser is higher on the wall than the soap dispenser

• the walls have the same pattern, but are in different colors

• whatever is in the left-hand corner

The multiple levels, with the black tile floor, on a seemingly windowless room...it does not seem particularly practical , or safe.

and theres no squatty potty, or equivalent, in sight . Not even a stool to aid using this 🚽.

There may be a bidet 💦, but the resolution and angle of the picture is such that i cannot tell. A bidet would be useful, and could improve experience of space, to an extent.

1

RogerRabbit1234 t1_j65bt9y wrote

This is almost definitely because with the toilet on the floor there isn’t enough drop in the waste line to get to the sewer main. I did something similar in a basement, where there wasn’t enough vertical drop from the toilet to the septic tank.

I only raised my toilet 4”, though, not 4’.

I've seen this done in a few houses. Somebody has the idea to add a toilet somewhere. The contractor says "yeah, you can put a toilet here. You'll just have to jackhammer a trench into the foundation so the poop can get out, it'll cost a lot of money" so the homeowner says "is there any way to add a toilet without destroying the foundation of the house?" And the answer is "sure, you can just put your toilet up on a big platform like a crazy person"
