I've never seen bacon in a cardboard box. Is that pre-cooked or something?

It is indeed. It's shelf stable until the plastic bag the bacon is in is opened. You can heat a couple of strips up for a few seconds in the microwave and you have instant bacon.

It's pretty good too, and sometimes cheaper than buying fresh bacon.
Less people buy the cooked bacon vs the fresh, so the cooked goes on sale more often and steeper to clear stock.

It may not be cheaper (by weight) at first glance, but it's worth the money between fat loss and saving lots of aggravation.

I love perfectly cooked bacon, but I keep this kind on hand for the off times I make a blt or club sandwich.
