Well,in the Mediterranean coast of Spain we also burn giant sculptures,we do various and the rate for who did the best "Falla" thats the name of the festivity and also at the same time the name of the group of sculptures
We also fire a lot of firecrackers and do a "mascletá" we tie a lot of them forming a double line and then we ignite the beginning of that line

There was this thing in Europe somewhen by the end of middle ages called inquisition.
A lot of people were killed just because someone thought they were dealing with the dark forces.
And execution for "witches" frequently was to burn them alive (or at least that's what I heard, I didn't do a research, actually) bc they thought witches are made of wood or smth idk

Oh, my teacher told me about that, pretty sad... how weird wouldn't it be, the doll is a symbol of winter and people burn it down when winter ends and spring starts in order to completely "say goodbye"
